Unconventional Quilting
Moved to the midwest and sure enough, started quilting. Stereotypical no?
Quilting for me is a way to stay connected with my mother, despite the thousand miles separating us, and with the memory of my grandmother, whom has passed away.
Did I take lessons? No. Did I spend hours working with others quilters learning the art? No. Did I take classes or lessons? Nope.
I jumped in and got creative! I love the mental game of figuring out patterns and finding new ways to do things. For my first few projects I devised a way of "cheating" that requires a whole lot of pins, but gives great, precise results.
Since then I have branched out into more conventional methods of quilting, always pushing a little farther and learning a great deal more with every project. Learn along with me and find new projects here!
There are these two pillows on my couch that well, are not so loved. The numbers, the letters, idk. Thankfully I know my way around a sewing machine and happen to have a full box of fabric and scraps hanging around.
Patchwork Pony
A patchwork rendition of a favorite cartoon character.
Sunny yellow fleece combined with happy little swimming koi fish make this cuddly soft throw cute, warm and perfectly silly. I love the optical illusion effect that this quilt has.
Super Simple Squares
If you can sew a straight line, you can make this adorable runner, or quilt if you get ambitious.

Christmas Quilt
This beautiful Christmas themed throw has a sister living in New Jersey. My mother and I devised a pattern for this delightful double star pattern based on a fellow quilter's Pinterest post. I live using a photo as inspiration for my projects and creating the pattern and learning techniques as I go.
